Blast Off!

I had an absolute blast this morning as my dad blasted me off into what felt like outer space!

I am so happy that Mommy & Daddy are home with me today after they decided to take the day after Super Bowl Sunday off.

We've played & hung out but a lot of the afternoon has involved Daddy trying his pants off to get me to take a nap. I'm positively stubborn & my dad is positively persistent so he's still trying after an hour or so. I can tell you that my mom would have given up after about fifteen minutes since she doesn't have patience like Daddy.

My parents are sure that I'm not ready for a toddler bed though so it's likely that they're going to invest in one of those crib tents to prevent me from climbing out.

Daddy's reading Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child by Marc Weissbluth to get some pointers since I'm too young to be giving up my naps. I take naps every day at daycare on my mat, but my teacher has to sit next to me & pat my back for about fifteen minutes until I fall asleep. My parents are armed & ready so it's go-time. We'll see how things pan out!

UPDATE: Rats! I lost & Daddy won since I FINALLY ended up taking a 2 hour nap!

do you really like that book? i hated so much of what they guy has to say! he doesn't seem very sensitive to kids needs, only what the parents want.

Yeah his book has worked for us in every situation thus far, and we continually use it as a reference in case we're unclear about certain points.

I disagree that he isn't sensitive to kid's needs. In fact I'd say kid's needs are his #1 focus. Kids need sleep whether they want it or not. If we just gave Cam what he wanted, then he'd be eating cupcakes for every meal and going to daycare in his pajamas each day, probably wearing diapers for the rest of his life.

My point is; kids want a lot of things, but they don't know what's best for them, it's up to us to teach them what's best for them.

i agree, we need to help them learn what is best, but there are many ways to do that. some people would say that beating a child when they do something wrong is one way to teach them what is best, but that doesn't mean it's right. it's just one way. i'm just saying there are many ways to do things and I feel like that author, and many others, just automatically puts the parents wants and needs ahead of the little person, just because they are little, like their wants and needs are less important. toodles!
